Renato Ruis aka Tim DevOps alias=TimDevOps

Senior DevOps Engineer

Kubestronaut · CKA · CKAD · CKS · KCNA · KCSA

Why Tim? Ages ago some friends decided I looked like Tim Maia, a legendary Brazilian singer. The nickname stuck. The resemblance is debatable.

Hey, I'm Renato, but most people know me as Tim. Senior DevOps Engineer with 8+ years building and scaling cloud platforms for e-commerce, fintech, pharma and logistics. Kubestronaut: all five CNCF Kubernetes certifications (CKA, CKAD, CKS, KCNA, KCSA). I've cut deployment time by up to 70% with CI/CD and GitOps, saved real money with FinOps, and moved entire Kubernetes platforms across clouds with barely any downtime. And I truly believe great infrastructure starts with people: transparency, blameless culture and staying calm when things catch fire.

##Kubernetes Expertise

kubectl get certifications -l vendor=cncf

Kubernetes is my home turf. I'm a CNCF Kubestronaut, one of the engineers worldwide holding all five Kubernetes certifications, and I run it in production every single day, managed and self-hosted.

kubectl get kubestronaut renatoruis -o wide

CNCF Kubestronaut · 5/5 Kubernetes certifications
Not technical? Here's what these actually mean

All five exams are hands-on, terminal-open, clock-running. In plain terms:

  • CKA — keeps Kubernetes platforms running and fixes them when they break
  • CKAD — builds and ships applications on Kubernetes the right way
  • CKS — secures the platform: secrets, policies, hardening, supply chain
  • KCNA + KCSA — solid grasp of the cloud-native ecosystem and its security

Yes, it's harder than it looks on LinkedIn.

##How I Work

kubectl describe engineer renatoruis

Tech skills keep systems running. Emotional intelligence keeps teams running. Here's what working with me looks like:

BlamelessByDefault=True

Blameless by default

Incidents are learning opportunities, not trials. I build postmortem cultures where people feel safe telling the truth fast. That's how MTTR actually goes down.

MentorshipHiring=True

Mentorship & hiring

Currently leading the expansion of the Infra/DevOps team at eureciclo: hiring, mentoring and standardizing good practices so the team scales beyond me.

CalmUnderPressure=True

Calm under pressure

Years of SRE on-call taught me that a calm voice in an incident channel is worth more than a clever script. I de-escalate first, debug second.

TechBusinessTranslation=True

Tech ↔ business translation

I explain infrastructure decisions in terms of cost, risk and speed, so non-technical stakeholders can actually make decisions.

CrossteamEnablement=True

Cross-team enablement

I measure my success by how autonomous other teams become. Documentation, golden paths and pairing over gatekeeping.

GroundedConsistent=True

Grounded & consistent

Father of three, married to Renata (yes, our names rhyme). Stability, long-term thinking and zero drama on the teams I join.

Production is down. Now what?

A 15-second tour of how I actually handle an incident:

  1. Detect Alert fires. Acknowledge fast, assess blast radius. No panic.
  2. Communicate Plain-language update to stakeholders: impact, ETA, next update time.
  3. Fix Rollback first if possible, debug after. Small, reversible steps.
  4. Learn Blameless postmortem. Fix the system, not the person. MTTR goes down.
  5. Root cause: someone deployed on a Friday. (Kidding. Mostly.)
